There’s a very cool book out called “10 and a Half Things No Commencement Speaker has Ever Said” by Charles Wheelan. The premise of the book is that too many commencement speeches take the safe route with pablum-laced messages that don’t necessarily deliver messages that are truly meaningful or relevant or honest. In other words, too much deja moo – the feeling you’ve heard this bull before!
Which raises an interesting question for the workplace and how we communicate. If you had to deliver a truly honest speech in your workplace to your employees OR to your leaders titled “10 and a Half Things No One Has Ever Said Out Loud in Our Workplace,” what would those 10 and a half things be?
