Humor Helps Messages Go Viral

Terry O’Reilly,  legendary advertising guru and host of the fabulous CBC radio program “The Age of Persuasion” once said, “Viral videos can become word of mouse.”

And what helps an internet video, or any message for that matter, become word of mouse is the use of  humor.

Six of the top-ten most watched You Tube videos for 2011 featured humor. From the “Ultimate Dog Tease” featuring the talking dog or  the Force Volkswagen commercial, humor clearly helps bring in the eyeballs.

So if you want your messages in the workplace to go viral, either with your employees or your customers, then keep in mind that a little humor can go a long ways towards helping your messages stand out from the herd to be heard!
