1. Are You a WorkaFrolic?

(Boy, do I wish I had thought up this term myself.) Richard St.
John, author of “Stupid, Ugly, Unlucky and Rich,” coined the
phrase “WorkaFrolic™” to describe one of the key ingredients
in the formula for success. After more than 10 years of
research and interviewing more than 500 wildly successful
people on the topic of how to create success, St. John says
that one of the keys is having fun. Successful people,
St. John suggests, “Work their butts off. But they love it,
so it’s not work, it’s fun. They’re not workaholics, they’re
2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip

If you want to have more fun, then take time to not only stop
and smell the roses, take time to pause and play. One of the top
excuses I hear from people for not having enough fun at work is
this: “I don’t have time to laugh!”. Of course we have to get
our work done – that’s the reason we’re, you know, paid and all
that. But as we’ve said before here at the old Hump Day, if you
don’t take time to break. . .you’ll break! Taking even a five
minute time-out can help you mentally floss your brain and relax
your body so that you ultimately accomplish MORE work.

If you want some great tips and ideas on how to slow down in
an ever speedier world, then surf on over to my friend Patricia
Katz’s website: You’ll find great articles
and books, including “Press Pause. . .Press On: Bringing
Balance & Perspective to Work and Life” and “Give Me a Break:67
Ways to Pause When You Absolutely Positively Do Not Have the Time.”
3. Deep Thought of the Week

“Consciousness: That annoying time between naps.”
4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky, World

From the Rocky Mountain news, here are some comebacks to use the
next time the boss catches you napping:
– “They told me at the blood bank this might happen!”
– “Why did you interrupt me? I had almost figured out a solution
to our biggest problem!”
– “I wasn’t sleeping. I was meditating on the mission statement
and envisioning a new paradigm.”

Happy Hump Day! Work hard. Have fun. Pause n’ play. Keep laughing.
