1. Be Kind to Your Admin Professionals Day!

They are often the unsung heroes of the workplace, and the people
we most often forget to say thanks to – the administrative
professionals. And this week is of course, Administrative
Professionals Week, and today is, yes AP day!!!!!

So take your AP to lunch, send them a bouquet of clown noses,
bring in some chocolates, take them bowling, send in the
donuts, bring in a couple of movie passes, send a funny thank
you card, or at the VERY least take them time to thank
them for all the stuff they do that you don’t have a clue about
and let’s face it, even if you did it would just stress you out
to no end knowing all those endless details.

And if YOU are an AP reading this, send this note to
your supervisor immediately – guilt is a wonderful motivational
tool when applied correctly.

2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip

Get your keenest video person, (like the guy who records
menus when he’s on vacations) to bring in a camera to work one
Friday (because Fridays are always the most relaxed day) and shoot
a spoof of a reality TV show called “Our Workplace.”

Video tape people beating up the photocopier, sitting in meetings,
and talking in the hallways. Capture the excitement as they ride
the elevator to work in the morning, get cameos from the VP’s and
solicit off-the cuff remarks from customers or employees.

The finished product can be used as a fun orientation tool to
show the new folks what a great workplace you have, or use it when
you hold your family open house (which I know you do!) or use it
as a hilarious diversion during your next staff retreat,
staff meeting or conference.

3. Quote of the Week

“A joke is the shortcut to consensus” Tom Burns

4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky World

April 14th was the annual World Cop Donut Eating Contest,
held in a Chicago suburb. Over 100 law enforcement officials
from as far away as Australia and Ireland munched down on
donuts. The winner won a semi automatic pistol, soft body armour
a $100 gift certificate to Dunkin’ Donuts (like they need it?)
and, perhaps most importantly of all (because why else would
you do this) the title of “Donut King!”.

Happy hump day everyone! May the farce be with you and may all
your donuts come with extra glaze.
