1. MARCHing To a Different Beat

Welcome to March everyone! March is of course, official Peanut Month
and Frozen Food Month.

But wait! There’s SO much more to celebrate this month, for example:

March 4th: The anniversary of when the first tavern in North America
opened up, (in Boston in 1634)

March 7th: Canada’s own Alexandra Graham Bell, inventor extraordinaire,
patents the telephone back in 1876

March 14: Mother’s Day (not what you think – it’s MOTH-ers Day,
for moth collectors)

March 17: St. Patrick’s Day

March 18: Electric razor invented by Colonel Schick in 1931

March 22: A very important thing happened in Canadian history today
– Montreal defeated Ottawa for the very first Stanley Cup back in 1894

March 23: First passenger elevator was installed on this day back in 1857
AND it’s World Meteorological Day!

March 25: Birthday of music legend Elton John today, born in 1947

March 26: Make Your Own Holiday Day! (Yes, it’s true!)

March 27: World’s first long distance phone call on this day back in 1884 between Boston and New York

March 29: Atlanta pharmacist John Pemberton creates the first “Coca Cola” drink as a hangover cure in 1886

March 30: A patent is awarded for the first pencil with an eraser on the end
So as you can see, there is no shortage of excuses for your and your colleagues
to celebrate this month.

May the farce be with you the entire month of March!
2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip

Hold a “Match The Person to the Baby Photo” contest. You can
do this with your employees, or include clients in the fun and
offer a prize for whoever correctly matches the grown-up photos
with the baby pics.
3. Quote of the Week

“Remember that as a teenager, you are at the last stage of your
life when you will be happy to hear the telephone ring.”
Fran Lebowitz
4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky World

This week in the news: A horse thief was caught in the act of trying
to paint over the distinctive markings on a horse she stole to hide
the evidence!
