1. It’s May! (Almost!)

Tomorrow is May! Are you excited? Are you pumped? Are you
happy to be here? Are you doing the fun dance?

May, of course, is official Barbecue Month, Fitness Month,
and Better Sleep Month. And May 1st is the birthday of
none other than the caped crusader himself, Batman, who first
appeared on May 1st , 1939.

And this Sunday, May 4th, is World Laughter Day, held the first
Sunday in May to celebrate the social, physical and mental health
benefits of laughter. The day is sponsored by the World Laughter
Tour, with laughter events planned all around the globe.

In some of the gatherings in larger urban centers, as many as a
thousand folks will gather and be led through a series of different
types of laughs, from the cocktail party laugh to the lion laugh, all
in an effort to get everyone relaxed and laughing-proving once again,
as we’ve reminded listeners so often here at the Hump Day Express, that
you really CAN laugh for absolutely no reason. And the health benefits
you experience from laughing for no reason are just as powerful (unless
your boss walks in on you laughing for no reason, then you may have
some explaining to do).
2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip

Give out a door prize for every meeting you hold, yes every meeting.
Something small, fun and inexpensive so you keep up the momentum,
like a certificate for a free coffee, a chocolate treat or small
office toy.

4. Deep Thought of the Week

“Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and
exhaustion . . . I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning
up to do afterward.” Kurt Vonnegut
5. It’s a Wacky, Wacky World

A survey in the travel section of the Calgary Herald listed
these results as the tops answers to the question “What do
you think is the funniest place name?”:

1. Dildo, Newfoundland (51% of the votes)
2. Middle Intercourse Island, Australia (17%)
3. Crackpot, England (14%)
4. St-Louis-de-Ha Ha!, Quebec (10%)
5. Stinking Point, Virginia (6%)
6. Dull, Ohio(2%)

(If anyone has wacky place names they’d like to pass along,
I’m all ears . . .)
