1. Working Stiffs

What is your body language saying about your mood, level of
confidence and ability to communicate effectively with others?

As we all know, it is saying A LOT.

Too many folks these days seem to be, unfortunately, turning
into true working stiffs – literally. And an entire office of
zombie-like professionals shuffling around with the enthusiasm
of a death-row inmate is a sure-fire way to dampen enthusiasm
and foster a more serious, stressful workplace environment.

Naturally our moods and stress levels influences our body
language, but remember, the reverse is also true.

Walking with greater confidence, walking with a purpose in our stride,
swinging our arms, or even being a little playful with our body
movements gets the oxygen flowing and can raise spirits faster than
any psychic. Even the simple act of swinging our arms back and forth
is thought to be enough to lift our moods when we are feeling down.

Open, expressive and confident body language sends the message out
to customers, coworkers and YOURSELF that you are alive and kicking,
that you are approachable and that you are ready for anything that
comes your way. Even a zombie attack.

Happy Hump Day! May the farce be with you.
2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip

There are tens of thousands of wacky bumper stickers available
to us, and it seems a shame to only put them on our cars.

So try wearing a humorous bumper sticker on the back of your
suit jacket or coat for a day and see what sort of response you
get. (At the very least, people will be happy to see you go!).

Find a sticker that makes a humorous statement about your job,
office or mood. And if you can’t put it on your person, then try
attaching one to the back of your office chair, your office door
or bulletin board.
3. Quote of the Week

“A man should swallow a toad every morning if he wishes
to be sure of finding nothing more disgusting before the day
is over.” Sebastian Chamfort
4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky World

For the third straight year, 145-pound Takera Kobayashi of Nagano,
Japan out-ate all competitors in the annual hotdog-eating contest
held at Nathan’s in New York City.

The hot-dogger ate 44 and a half hotdogs in 12 minutes, which
translates into a hot dog every 16 seconds.

Makes you just want to skip lunch, eh?
