1. Action Motivates

Feeling uninspired and unmotivated? This may sound a bit
like a chicken and egg problem here, but nothing is more
motivating that just starting to do something. Choosing to take
some action, starting to bite into that enormous elephant one bite
at a time (this is a metaphor, please don’t chew on elephants),
has been demonstrated to be a huge motivating influence.

The more you do, the more you want to do. Action fuels motivation,
the increased motivation in turn, fuels more action. (This is
sounding kind of Yoda-like, isn’t it?)

And speaking of taking action, here’s a motivational thought
from some researchers at Cornell University. In a study of seniors,
they found that 75% of the seniors regretted taking NO action at
key points in their life vs. taking actions that ended up turning
bad. Time and time again the seniors said, “If only I HAD . . . ”
instead of “If only I HADN’T . . .”

Great words to live, work and play by.
2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip

Set up a giant whiteboard in the lunchroom or along a popular
hallway where employees can write down their thought of the day,
clean joke of the day, or word of the day. Make a space where
folks can doodle and draw as a fun distraction. Use the board
to let people know about successes, birthdays or special
events. Post survey questions or solicit ideas on it.
Walt Disney once a had walls covered with paper where
all the employees could write down their suggestions or ideas,
and it was a huge hit.

For those of you working at home, this works great with
families too.
3. Quote of the Week

“A clown is like aspirin, only it works twice as fast.”
Groucho Marx
4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky World

Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada has been named the “Slurpee
Capital of the World” for the fifth year! Yes, there is no
other place on the planet where more slurpees are consumed
than in Winnipeg.

Winnipeggers must be so proud.
