1. Celebrating With Flair

Renn Zaphiropoulous, CEO of Versatec is quoted as saying:
“If you’re going to give someone a check, don’t just mail
it. Have a celebration!”

Which is probably why, when he delivered the annual bonus
checks to employees of the company, he donned a satin
costume and rode in on an elephant alongside a marching
band.

So what can you do to turn your next workplace celebration
into something truly memorable and fun?

2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip

Create an “Inspiration Board” when you or your team
is working on a specific project. It could be for
planning a conference, a new product idea, or redesigning
the office space. Creating a board around a specific topic
area or theme can help people focus their ideas, allows
for collaboration amongst different groups, and lets
people contribute their ideas in a safe, fun, imaginative,
and visual manner.

3. Quote of the Week

“Without fun, marriages don’t work; when jobs aren’t fun,
they become intolerable and dehumanizing; when children
aren’t fun to be with, they are heartbreaking; when churches
aren’t fun, religion becomes a drag; when life is not fun,
it is just plain hard.” Tony Campolo

4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky World

From the book “Idiots at Work”, by Leland Gregory,
comes this little bit of e-mail advice, sent out by
the management of The Electric Boat Company:

“E-mail is not to be used to pass on information or
data. It should be used ONLY for company business.”

Happy Hump day everyone.
