1. Another Reason to Laugh

Researchers from a Nashville University presented their
hilarious findings at a conference on obesity. Yes, they
found reason number 39 to laugh: 10-15 minutes of laughing
a day burns the equivalent of 50 calories, or enough to
lose 2 kilograms of weight a year.

2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip

Harvey Mindness once said, “You can’t teach people to
be funny, you can only give them permission to be funny.”
So with that in mind, give everyone where you work
(especially yourself) permission to have fun with a
constant reminder of the importance of fun with a funny
slogan, fun mascots, badges, stickers, buttons . . .
anything that continuously reinforces the message to
lighten up!

3. Quote of the Week

“Imagination is intelligence having fun. Imagination
is more important than fun.” Albert Einstein

4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky World

The 2004 Ig Noble award winners were recently announced
at Harvard University. These are prizes awarded from
the “Annals of Improbable Research.” The winners include
studies that looked into:

– the effects of country music on suicide.
– the dynamics of hula hoping
– the validity of the “it’s safe to eat if it has only
touched the floor for five seconds rule”
. . . and my personal favorite, Donald and Frank Smith
were recognized for patenting. . .the comb-over!

Happy Hump Day one and all!
