Fun Rituals at Work Boost Health

1. Anticipation Really is Half the Fun

As reported by the American Physiology Society, researchers from
Loma Linda University have found that the mere anticipation of
laughter causes an increase in “good” hormones, and a reduction
in three different types of stress hormones (including cortisol,
epinephrine and dopac).

Which means anticipating to laugh really is half the fun! ”So
what?”, you may ask. Well, I’ll tell you so what. The so what is
that this is yet another reason to take laughter seriously as part
of our workplace wellness programs, and another reason to create
regular, on-going traditions and fun rituals. Creating regular
fun events will not only help create a “want to” kind of workplace,
maybe, just maybe, fun rituals can help prevent an increase in
photocopy machine rage incidents and bad hair days!
2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip

Hold a “buskers” day at your workplace, where folks practice
whatever street entertainment/panhandling skills they have at
their disposal to raise money for your favorite charity or
for your social committee. And turn it into a fun contest by
seeing which individual or team can raise the most moola.

4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky, World

A man in Ft. Worth, Texas was arrested after trying to cash a
check for $360 BILLION. The 21-year old claimed the money was
being given to him by his girl friend’s mother to help him start
up a record company. Yup. Nothing suspicious there.
