1. Sandwich Theft Takes Bite Out of Workplace Morale

A recent newspaper article highlights a disturbing workplace
problem: sandwich theft. Yes, hungry coworkers are stealing each
other’s lunches, or worse yet, taking bites out of their
coworkers’ sandwiches and then returning them back to their
original wrapping! I wish I was making this up, but I’m not!

The article goes on to point out the obvious result of
working alongside these beastly scavengers: low morale and
a lousy sense of teamwork. (Not to mention hungry employees,
which is never a good thing).

So please, this Hump Day, if you do nothing else to raise
the morale and team spirit in your workplace, please, oh please,
stay away from other people’s food.

2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip

Speaking of food, it is wise to remember that food is a primary
motivator, and a simple way to make sure people have fun and show
up at your next meeting or social event (or heck, come into work).

Here are eight ways to motivate the troops with food:

1. Hold a breakfast meeting.
2. Use chocolates to say thanks.
3. Have an office theme potluck lunch once a month.
4. Include fun food in your meetings (chocolate fondues get
my vote).
5. Make your own fortune cookies and slip your own
workplace messages inside the cookies.
6. Bring in a nutritional expert to talk about healthy eating.
7. Hold a team chilli-making, cookie making, whatever-making contest.
8. Have a picnic at your next meeting, or take the troops out
for a real picnic.

3. Deep Thought of the Week

“Food is an important part of a balanced diet.” Fran Leibowitz

You know what they say, out of the mouths of babes
. . . comes cereal.

4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky World

A woman in England recently walked into a Woolworths and walked
out with 10,000 chocolate bars, paying some $5,200 (Canadian)
for them, and carrying them away in her limousine.

That’s either one big craving or one honking big fondue!

Happy Hump Day all! And remember, sometimes the fastest way
to a client’s/employee’s/boss’s heart really is through their
stomach.
