1. Learning to Love Mondays

Some studies suggest there is a link between Monday
mornings and an increase in heart attacks, tension headaches,
suicides and car accidents. Too many folks, wasting away in
Dilbertville, aren’t too excited to wake up Monday mornings.

One of the measures of workplace success then, must include
the “Monday morning moaning measurement.” This index correlates
the level of moaning one does on a Monday morning directly to
how much one is enjoying their workplace environment.
In other words, happier workplaces = less moaning.

Which brings us to the “Why I LOVE Monday Mornings” contest.
Thanks for all the goofy, terrific entries. We did a random
draw from the top five entries, and the winner of a deck
of Putting Humor to Work memory cards is Shirley Jones,
who went above and beyond my submitting 14 reasons to love
Mondays, including . . .

– They only happen once a week!
– No calls from phone solicitors at work!
– No washing machines at work!
– No children with squirt guns near my desk!
– The morning commute is great practice for the
Indianapolis 500!

Enjoy your Mondays everyone, and always remember, waking
up on a Monday morning . . . is a good thing.
2. Mike’s Fun at Work Tip – High Flying Fun at Work

Several organizations hold annual paper airplane-making
contests, wherein teams are given a half an hour or so
to create the best paper airplane. Teams can be judged
on longest flight, most creative design or best plane name.
3. Quote of the Week

“Sometimes you just need to look reality in the eye, and
deny it.” Garrison Keillor
4. It’s a Wacky, Wacky World

Looking for another career? Something that offers low
stress? How about this: Federal Express pays a person to
ride along as a passenger in their delivery trucks in L.A.
so they can use the express lane!

Happy hump day! Remember, only 5 days until Monday!
