1. Four P’s of Workplace Motivation

As we point out time and again here at the old Hump Day,
money is not a primary motivator in the workplace. Sure,
the old pay cheques keep folks coming back for more,
but to engage and inspire people, money doesn’t cut it.

If you want happier, healthier, more humor-filled
workplaces, then remember the 4 P’s to help you create
a “want to” workplace, instead of a “have to” workplace:

1. Pride: Intrinsic motivators like pride out perform
external motivators like money. Tap into people’s pride.

2. Praise: People want recognition more than anything else.

3. Personalize: There’s different strokes for different folks,
so match rewards and fun perks to the individual.

4. Party: Celebrate your significant milestones and
successes, or if need be, make up an excuse to celebrate!
If it’s worth doing, it’s worth celebrating.
2. Mike’s Fun At Work Tip

Looking for a unique, fun thank you gift or reward for
a colleague, but don’t know what to get them? Call their
spouse or a good friend to get the inside track
on what would be most meaningful to them.
