Why Choose Between Fun and Content
When You Can Have Both?
Whether you’re booking me for a high-energy, inspiring, funny, idea-rich keynote presentation (typically 45-90 minutes) or an interactive half or full-day workshop, whether it’s in-person or virtual, my goal is to be a catalyst for change for your audience.
I want to exceed your expectations and deliver a memorable and impactful experience for your audience; a presentation that is thought-provoking, relevant, funny and inspiring all at once.
I strive to deliver relevant content, based on real-world examples, in as entertaining a way as possible so those ideas stick in the minds of participants for a long time.
Remember, it’s not enough just to deliver content. If people aren’t inspired to change, if they aren’t excited about the possibilities, then they aren’t going to put those ideas into practice.
So, I see it as my job to not just ignite the light bulbs in people’s heads, my job is to make an emotional connection, to engage not just the minds, but the hearts of audiences so they are excited about the future, and excited to invest in themselves and in your company.
Great cultures don’t happen by accident.
I want to help you be more intentional about creating a rocking culture that drives extraordinary business results.
Small Moments, Big Outcomes
How to Create an Inspiring Culture that Drives OUTRAGEOUS Results
This presentation can be delivered as:
KEYNOTE WORKSHOP VIRTUAL
Your workplace culture is your #1 competitive advantage.
But here’s the rub. Great cultures don’t just happen! You can’t fake a great culture or buy your culture at IKEA!
You need to be intentional about your workplace culture. And you need to enlist everyone’s support to contribute to a purpose-driven, happier, more resilient, innovative, collaborative, and service-focused culture.
One of the things that so many inspiring workplaces do so successfully, in fact, is they hold their employees accountable not just for the work they do, but for how they contribute to to a more positive workplace environment.
And the great news is, it truly is the smallest of moments that make all the difference!

- Why work matters! It’s far more than just a paycheck!
- The attitude choice we all make every day that contributes to a more positive workplace.
- How do you define your culture and does culture really eat strategy for breakfast? (Spoiler alert: Your culture seriously impacts every aspect of your business!)
- Leaders leading leaders: Why everyone in your workplace needs to step up and take personal responsibility for how they contribute to your culture (Fun fact: a study showed that some employee’s presence at work causes the rest of their teammates’ blood pressure to rise! We should probably talk about that.)
- Valuing your values: Actions speak louder than words and talk is cheap! How great companies live their values out loud and treat them as lines in the sand.

- Money isn’t always honey! Creating a “want to” vs. a “have to” workplace that truly engages employees and turns lifelong employees into loyal, raving fans (there’s a huge difference between the two).
- Creating a service-first culture: Why phenomenal customer service starts on the inside and why some of your most important customers are also known as your teammates.
- Work is hard enough as it is without making it any harder! Why great organizations embrace a spirit of fun and how humor both creates more humane, resilient cultures, and reflects humane, resilient cultures.
- Keeping the culture message alive. You don’t build a rocking culture through a 1 or 10 times a year event. Get ready to walk away with inspiring ideas that will keep your culture conversation alive.
This presentation is geared for all employees at any level in any organization, or it can be customized for only front line employees or for senior leadership teams.
If you want to leave your audience laughing, inspired, and armed with practical, relevant ideas they can immediately put into practice to make a real difference in your workplace, this talk is for you!

Leaders Leading Leaders
Great Cultures Begin With Intentional Leadership From the Top
This presentation can be delivered as:
KEYNOTE WORKSHOP VIRTUAL
Great workplace cultures don’t happen by accident, and they don’t happen without intentional leadership.
I use the term ‘intentional,’ well, intentionally. I’ve interviewed 100s of leaders around the world, and inspiring leaders tell me time and again that the key to their success as a leader starts by simply being more intentional about being a leader.
Which means knowing there’s a difference between being a manager or boss and being a leader. Being intentional means consciously making decisions and choices about your attitude and behaviors that reflect and demonstrate real leadership.
Intentional leadership is about creating more leaders at work, not more followers, which is why so many high-achieving organizations embrace the mantra “we are leaders leading leaders.”

- Culture leadership: The critical role leaders play in shaping culture (as I’ll share with your audience, everything a leader does either builds or detracts from your culture).
- Leading with laughter: Why so many effective leaders embrace a spirit of humility and humor.
This keynote or workshop is for employees who are in managerial or supervisory roles, however, there’s also a “front line leadership” version that focuses on instilling an attitude of personal accountability and leadership in your front line employees who have no supervisory responsibility. So I’ve got you covered either way! For the front line leadership version, please hop on over to The Jerk-Free Workplace presentation.
Key messages for Leaders Leading Leaders:
- Why YOUR leadership matters. And not just to your company, but to your family and your own success and well-being.
- The leadership mindset: The 6 key differences between being “the boss” and being a leader that makes a real difference.
- Leadership isn’t about what’s on your business card, it’s about who you are being at work. (Fun fact: If you saw the messages outlined in my Inspiring Workplaces presentation, the blood pressure study was really talking about senior managers!)
- Leadership is people-centered, it’s not about “the stuff.” (Spoiler alert: No one wants to be managed, but employees are hungry for inspiring leadership).
- Leading change at work: How effective leaders embody a continuous improvement mindset that embraces change.
- Breaking down silos: Why leaders must think about what’s best for the entire organization and work across departments.
- What if it IS my fault? Being accountable and taking responsibility as a leader.
- Leading cultures: Why leaders must take on the role of culture champions.
- Leading on purpose: Why we need less vision statements, more visionaries.
- The power of values: How to value your values and live them out loud.
- Leading conversations: Why inspiring leaders have less meetings and more meaningful conversations.
- Well, this is awkward! Frameworks for mastering challenging, uncomfortable conversations.
- The power of purpose, pride and progress: Free your employees to be their best.
- Leading with laughter: How so many great leaders use their sense of humor to build trust at work, strengthen relationships, and boost morale. (And no, you don’t have to become a stand up comedian.)
This presentation is geared for anyone in a supervisory or management role including seasoned leaders, unseasoned leaders, leaders who have lost their mojo, and every leader in between.
If you want to leave your audience inspired and armed with relevant ideas they can immediately put into practice to be more intentional about how they lead, then this talk is for you!

KEYNOTE WORKSHOP VIRTUAL
In my 20+ years of speaking, I don’t think I’ve ever had a client say, “You know Michael, we’re just not experiencing much change these days. We’ve been cruising along on auto-pilot, embracing the status quo for the last three decades or so!”
Change is happening on so many levels and at a faster pace than ever before. And if the pace of change outside your company exceeds the pace of change on the inside, it’s just a matter of time before you’re going to be in trouble. Serious trouble.
You have three options really, when it comes to your relationship with change. You can ghost it (in other words, cover your eyes and ears and ignore it), you can host it (learn to adapt to the change that is happening around you), or you can toast it (by embracing and leading change).*
(*Ghost it, host it or toast it. Okay, come on, you have to admit that’s pretty good! I just thought of it as I’m writing this in the moment and I have to confess, I’m very proud of it.)

Creating a Service-First Culture
Why You Need to Stop Providing Good Customer Service!
This presentation can be delivered as:
KEYNOTE WORKSHOP VIRTUAL
“Over 80% of companies believe they have fantastic customer service. Only 8% of their customers agree.” Harvard Business case study
Okay, so I’m being slightly facetious with the title. But hear me out.
Since your customers already expect “good customer service,” all you’re doing by providing “good customer service” is staying out of the customer service doghouse or staying out of customer service jail. All you’re doing is meeting expectations. Yawn.
You’re never going to stand out from the herd and earn a reputation for your phenomenal service if you don’t do one of two things:
- Exceed your customers’ expectations of good customer service
- Do something different than your competitors
And this customer service mindset begins on the inside.
And of course, we know that not only do happy employees create happier customers, but the reverse is also true as well! By focusing on better customer service, you’ll also be creating a winning culture at the same time.
This high-energy, humor-filled presentation is packed to the brim with real-life examples of businesses that have become outrageously successful by doing something different. Or funny. Or outrageous. Or just something really, really simple that ended up making an enormous difference to their customers.
Key messages for Creating a Service-First Culture include:
- What an experience! Understanding the difference between customer service and customer experience and how embracing a customer experience mindset can inspire and engage ALL your employees.
- Stop providing good service: Why good customer service isn’t good enough – especially, now!
- Why service matters, a lot! Seven reasons why you and everyone on your team needs to embrace a service first mindset.
- Service starts on the inside: Some of your most important customers are sitting right next to you! Why inspiring customer service has to start on the inside.
- Creating “French fry” moments: Embracing a partnership mindset by anticipating customers’ needs. (Spoiler alert: Yes, I will explain the concept of French fry moments.)
- Yes, and? Lessons from theatre improv for a “Yes, and…” approach to service.
- Going the extra inch: How to consistently go the extra inch with your customers.
- Going the extra mile: The power of going the extra mile to stand out from the herd.
- Can we have a do-over? Making amends when your service goes sideways.
- Can a pet frog increase sales? Surprising customers with humor. (Spoiler alert: According to one study, a pet frog really can make a difference!)
- Following up and following through: The importance of following up and following through with customers – often the weakest, yet most critical link in the customer service cycle.
This presentation is for any organization that wants to inspire their employees to go beyond providing “just” good customer service. It’s for companies that want to be known for their remarkable service and who want to create a service-first mindset within their entire culture.
If you want to leave your participants armed with fun ideas that will help them lead with a service-first approach, then let’s talk!
