Top-10 Perks For a Happier, Less Stressful Office – Does Your Office Need an Office Dog?
10 Perks for a Happier Office
I stumbled upon a survey listing what office workers said would make them happier and less stressed out at work. The survey focused on tangible things – perks if you will, as opposed to more intangible factors, such as workplace culture issues like trust, open and honest communication, or not having a boss who sucks a bit of your soul out of you every day.
Now, as interesting as it can be to look at these survey results, I’d suggest that the intangible factors such as trust, open communication, respect, how much fun you have at work, how much autonomy you have at work etc. etc. are approximately a gazillion times more important than the best coffee maker or yes, even, gasp, an office dog!
But, okay, having said that, who wouldn’t also want some nice perks at work, like free healthy food? So looking at the list, how does your workplace rate? What could you work on to get the biggest happiness bang for the buck? What top-3 items from this list would you select? What’s missing from the list?
1. Healthy snacks and drinks (33%)
2. Perfect climate (30%)
3. Cleanliness (26%)
4. Relaxation/sleep zones (21%)
5. Subsidized food (21%)
6. An office dog (20%)
7. Office games, such as pool tables, ping-pong tables (19%)
8. Parking (17%)
9. Plants (17%)
10. Gym access (15%)
Why not survey your teammates and see if there are a few changes you could make in your office this year to bring a little more happiness into your workplace?
