Hitting the Reset Button at Work After the Pandemic

As things start to return to some sense of normalcy and as employees begin to make their way back to the office or adapt to a permanent hybrid workplace model, why not take the time to hit the rest button, rather than return to “normal”?  After all, the old normal wasn’t so great for a lot of employees. So why not re-imagine a better workplace – a workplace that works for everyone!

Hitting the Reset Button at Work After the Pandemic

As more and more organizations are going back to some sense of normalcy – whether that’s a hybrid workplace or whether the entire gang is back working together in your office, it truly is the perfect time to talk about hitting the reset button.

Don’t go back to the “old normal,” because you know what? For a lot of us, the old normal wasn’t so great! So why not aim for something better? Why not have some really meaningful conversations with your team and with your employees about the lessons that were learned throughout the pandemic, and about how people want the workplace to be different when they go back. Talk about how you can build on some of the positive things that came out of the pandemic.

And one very simple framework that you can use to guide a conversation is to use the “Wheel of Change” framework.

Talk about, now that you’re back at work, whether it’s in a hybrid workplace or everyone altogether, what’s one thing we all need to now consistently remember to keep doing, that we actually were doing pretty well because of the pandemic? It actually encouraged us to be more consistent at this, but let’s make sure we keep doing it consistently.

Number two, what is one thing we have to create or do differently now that we’re back working?

And number three, what is one thing that we need to stop doing consistently as a group? And number four, what is one thing we all need to learn just to live with, because it’s not going away any time soon?

So use the Wheel of Change to guide a conversation. At the very least make sure you have the conversation about what work might look like if, rather than returning to normal, you decided to hit the reset button.

So what about you? How would you like to reset things in your workplace? Please leave a comment in the comment box below.
